Insomniac...

Insomnia is most frequently defined by an individual's report of sleeping difficulties. While the term is sometimes used in sleep literature to describe a disorder demonstrated by polysomnographic evidence of disturbed sleep, insomnia is often defined as a positive response to either of two questions: "Do you experience difficulty sleeping?" or "Do you have difficulty falling or staying asleep?"......

Lying down in the bed, waiting for being embraced by Hypnos till morning, well that's the most disgusting thing. When i start feeling comfortable in his company, it's the time for Helios, to show his might. Sleep was one of my favorite activities. Now i just can't do that....... I had often used vodka as a form of self-treatment of insomnia to induce sleep. But it's not practical now. I don't have the company for that here in Hyderabad. The search for a substitute led me to Zolfresh, Zolpidem (N,N,6-Trimethyl-2-(4-methylphenyl)-imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine-3-acetamide), containing tablets. It is a prescription medication used for the short-term treatment of insomnia, as well as some brain disorders. It is a short-acting nonbenzodiazepine hypnotic that potentiates gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), an inhibitory neurotransmitter, by binding to GABA_A receptors at the same location as benzodiazepines. It works quickly (usually within 15 minutes) and has a short half-life (2–3 hours). Yesterday was the first time that i have ever tried such a sleep enhancing drug. I didn't feel anything bad. Had a nice sound sleep, didn't even hear my alarm and Kareem woke me up at 5:30 am. Mind you, i had to go to class at 6:00 am. But when i came to know the side-effects, i was shocked. Some users take zolpidem recreationally for some of these side-effects, notably sedation, hallucinations and euphoria. Zolpidem becomes addictive if taken for extended periods of time, due to drug tolerance and physical dependence or the euphoria it can sometimes produce. Under the influence of the drug, patients may take more zolpidem than is necessary, due to either forgetting that one has already taken a pill or knowingly taking more than the prescribed dosage. Some users have reported unexplained sleepwalking while using zolpidem, and a few have reported driving, binge eating, sleep talking, and performing other daily tasks while sleeping.God!!!! Well i don't know whether i'll continue using it or not. Lemme tell you, sleeplessness, it's a really miserable condition...
