Deepawali in Hyderabad.

It was around 8:30 pm, we strode through the crowded streets of Hyderabad. The city was as charming as the young damsels who were basking themselves in the colors and the sounds of the fireworks. Yes, it was deepawali, the "festival of lights". In each legend, myth and story of deepawali lies the significance of the victory of good over evil; and it is with each deepawali and the lights that illuminate our homes and hearts, that this simple truth finds new reason and hope. From darkness unto light - the light that empowers us to commit ourselves to good deeds, that which brings us closer to divinity. It took the entire city into a reveling atmosphere. Everyone was enjoying themselves. All the people regardless of religion came out to the streets to take part in the celebrations. The fireworks where seen everywhere, even on the roads, infront of shops, on the terraces of the buildings, rockets were even flying between our legs. The air of festivity was prevailing everywhere we roamed. It was also the time for the elite economic class to show their opulence, bursting the crackers on the roads in 'police protection'. The policemen didn't want the public to occupy the roads as it would adversely effect the big fishes' euphoria. There was a really funny incident when a lassie 'dressed so brightly' lit a rocket but it turned against her. She had to run for her life. Lemme tell you, she was very hot. If something had happened to her, then surely we would have fought each other to save her life. It was then the police had to use their lathi. We had to move from there. We then stayed out of the rush. Walking alone the quiet localities we saw families who were celebrating the festival in true spirits. They were not competing with anyone, just enjoying themselves. This was a wonderful moment for me. It was for the first time in my life i had seen such diwali celebrations, as in Kerala, atleast in my part it not a major festival...... A moment which will remain etched in my memory.....

Straight from my heart.

"So close, no matter how far
Couldn't be much more from the heart
Forever trusting who we are
and nothing else matter"

One fine afternoon, here in Hyderabad when most of my roommates have gone to attend classes, i got myself into a situation which always prompts me to dig into my past, especially the four years in college. Those years, were the best in my life. Always surrounded by cheerful friends, talking about literally everything beneath the sun. We people were always been in full of energy, always restless. To be frank, we enjoyed each others' happiness and took part in their sorrows. Planning outings, mischiefs, parties....... well, it goes on. But now everything has changed, with all of us in different corners of the world. We wait with a coffee cup in our hand during the late evenings in front of the pc for our friends to come online. Thanks to facebook and EPL, i could really feel that i'm not so far from my friends, atleast some 'em..........
